About ILA Awards
Indian Laser Association has instituted two awards for encouraging young researchers in Laser science. The awards are as follows:
- ILA Best Thesis Award
- Vivek Srinivas Memorial Best Poster Award
Both these awards are given in the form of cash and certificate at the time of the annual National Laser Symposium.
ILA Best Thesis Award
- This is an award of Rs.5,000 given to the best thesis presentation during the NLS.
- The contestants should have been either awarded or submitted their Ph.D. thesis on a Laser related topic during that year.
- The thesis abstracts are to be submitted to the Coordinator of the NLS, which are printed in the Abstract book.
- A panel of judges selects the best thesis presentation(s) during the presentation session which is held during the NLS.
- If more than one (max two) persons are awarded, the prize money is shared by them.
- If the winner(s) is not a life member of ILA, he /she is given life membership by subtracting membership fee from the prize money.
Vivek Srinivas Memorial Best Poster Award
- This is an award of Rs.1,500 given to the first author of the best poster during the National Laser Symposium. This is instituted in the memory of late Prof. Vivek Srinivas (IISc Bangalore) out of a donation to ILA made by his friends and relatives.
- A panel of judges selects the best poster among the posters presented during NLS after going through all the posters and discussing them with the authors.
- If any sponsor comes forward, ILA gives another award as ILA Best Poster Award. However, in this case, both the winners are considered to be at par.
- If the winner(s) is not a life member of ILA, he /she is given life membership by subtracting membership fee from the prize money.
